About Mercury The Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (DOE/NETL) currently manages the largest funded research and development (R&D) program in the country for developing an understanding of fossil combustion-based mercury emissions, including their measurement, characterization, and the development of cost-effective control technologies for the U.S. coal-fired electric generating industry. In order to help disseminate the results of the mercury research program to the public, DOE/NETL maintains a website that contains updated information on our mercury R&D efforts, including technical papers, presentations, and project technical reports. An electronic mailing list has been established to alert you to the latest news and technical report postings on the mercury website. Mailing list alerts will be sent monthly and include links to new mercury research program postings.
